Bonningtons Sandiacre

Bonningtons is a commercial scale wholesaler that deal in a variety of household goods and seasonal goods, this creates a number of environments in the warehouse as some parts have to allow for fast moving stock that is in season or in demand to other products that need the room to be bulk stored for longer periods of time.

Business Needed

As the company is ever expanding at a rapid rate, there need for warehousing space soon became an issue therefore it was necessary to move into a bigger warehouse location. The site Bonningtons chose to move to in the end was in Sandiacre, Nottingham. This new site the moved to allowed for about 80,000 square foot of space. The team at UK Racking Ltd. were contacted about the potential for a new storage solution to go into the site; this meant we were allowed to design a system that best suited the needs of storage whilst sticking to the budget of the customer, we promptly got the design and planning of the project together.

UK Racking Solution

After the team at UK Racking Ltd had been to the site carried out a full site survey we prompted Bonningtons with an initial design which turned in to the go ahead design for the project, we curated a system that was simple for the pickers to operate in by having long runs of their current size racking, meaning the pallet racking system could be implemented right from the get go. We also allowed access for a drive through bay half way down the run, this was done increase efficiency of the forklift operator by shortening the distance needed to travel. As the system was very much similar to Bonningtons previous system it meant stock could be organized through the warehouse very similarly just onto a bigger scale, this was an aspect we wanted to take into account when designing the system and gives a lot of benefits to the warehouse process as a whole.

The Result

Overall the new pallet racking system gave Bonningtons an instant benefit to the storage of there stock by allowing – pallet locations also allowed for greater flexibility with the organization of there stock to allow loading and unloading processes to become more efficient. This new system is at great value for the customers needs as it now allows them expand the stock they can store and help them move forwards in the future.
